My Story

One of the most frequently questions asked when The painted crows began its journey is “why domestic abuse?””is is an important issue personally for you or do you have experience with it first hand?” That is an interesting question and also answers it self. If the painted crows were doing BLM campaign poster design nobody would ask why. If it was about SaveUkraine, Free Palestine, suicide, mental health, male toxicity, LGBTQ then nobody would ask “why?”. The lack of media coverage and social availability surrounding domestic abuse is shocking. To me anyways. People can sit around a table in homes and bars around the country in public spaces and discuss mental health and suicide attempts but the taboo subject of domestic abuse is still the elephant in the room. The shocking and heartbreaking scenes of war torn countries on tv get people talking around the water cooler in work or in cafes during thier coffee break but nobody is talking about the abused women two doors down the road. Its seen as a private problem. something between relationships and families. To be resolve “behind closed doors”. Well its time to break those doors down and drag out the ones responsible. Stop violence against women. - Stephen Cheung
